Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of JVC HAW600RF 900MHZ Wireless Headphones - BlackCustomer Review: Its OK except for one nagging problem. Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased these headphones so I can watch TV while my wife sleeps. I am very used to cordless headphones. I needed one because my previous one, of a different brand, kept going off by itself. I found out it was a bad base and the power connection kept going off and on due to the bad base.
These headphones work pretty good, as long as your in front of the base. Sometimes, however, if you turn your head a certain way, it gets static that goes away when your head is back to where it was. I find that a little odd.
The sound quality is just fine for my need.
If I had a serious critical problem with the unit, it would be directed at the numb skull that thought it would be a nifty idea to require the user to remove the ear muff to insert or replace the batteries. Getting the ear muff off was easy enough, putting them back on was a challenge. It never realigned correctly and now it keeps coming back off. Its ridicules to design it this way. I'm not sure which part of the ear muff goes down or up to the alignment of the speaker. That is the worst problem with this headset. As long as you have good dexterity then you should be fine for the price of these things.
The next complaint is you have to really make jupiter and venus align before you can get them to charge. You have to have them on the cradle in a certain way or it won't charge. It would have been better to have a secondary plug come out of the base that plugs right into the headset, no matter whether the headset is on the base or laying next to it.
My final complaint is when the headphones are charging, the base unit shuts off. Obviously they believed if your charging your headset, there's no need to have the base transmit any longer. The problem is, I have three headphones that I have accumulated over the years. The first two had bad bases, same model, and then this headset. All three headsets, though two different brands, use the same frequency. So while these are charging, I can use any of the other, already charged, headsets to listen with. I can't because the transmitter is cut off during charging. Silly not to have it transmit anyway.
Bottom line is, I only need them at night, so the charging thing is not an issue really, just a note that it could have been designed different. Making people remove the ear muff to work with the battery is crazy and needs to be rethought. Perhaps the batteries should just be put inside the thing and shipped that way. They are rechargeable, so there is no need to remove them, why not just put them in before the machinery puts the ear muffs on??
